- Relevancy: How the content is relevant to the search query or the topic that is searched or followed
- Popularity: How many PUBLC users clicked on the content and/or upvoted it
- Content age: How old is it, when was it published
In addition to the above parameters that get checked automatically and continuously, PUBLC allows its users to categorize content because they know best what topic(s) the content is related to or which search queries best describe the content.
Categorizing content, therefore, also contributes to its ranking in two ways; it boosts both, the Relevancy and the Popularity scores mentioned above. Relevancy because it further increases the relevancy of the content in relation to the search term/topic, and Popularity because it makes the content more discoverable, giving it chances to appear under many relevant topics and subtopics where more users are likely to engage with it, and when engagement occurs, in form of clicks and upvotes, it in turn raises your popularity ranking.
In addition to the ranking purely within PUBLC, there are more ways of increasing the popularity of your content, for example, you can share your content via PUBLC across your other social channels, all those clicks will improve your ranking by directly contributing to the Popularity score.
In summary, having users adding and categorizing their content on PUBLC, combined with user engagement driven by sharing your content through PUBLC, and our Machine Learning & AI, will continue ‘teaching’ PUBLC how to organize content in an even more precise, user-friendly, and genuine manner. In other words, the search engine will become smarter and smarter overtime. PUBLC intends to broaden user horizons and allow them to discover new content they didn’t even know existed, favouring quality content over any other characteristics, such as the size of the publication behind it, etc.
